As far as I have been able to determine, an owner of an ELSA can do all maintenance of his airplane. What he is not capable of doing( If he did not build the aircraft himself) is doing the annual condition report. I would like to know if the 120 hour course is good for ELS as well as SLSA. I can't find anybody who is willing to do that for less than $500 on my Avid A model.

I understand about a state tax, but I would be leery about a Federal tax. I don't believe that there are any Luxury taxes on aircraft kits. If it is legit he will receive a letter on official IRS stationary with a bill to be sent to an official IRS address.

The bill of sale I had on my Avid the FAA paperwork said that you could put down $1.00 and it would be good, sounds like a scam. be careful

    Fuel Tank
I only have one fuel tank in my AvidĀ  A model, and while I am getting ready to recover my wing I figured that now would be a good time to put in another one. I looked at the ones from wingtank in the suppliers section but that is meant to be put inside your old tank. I like the idea of the ethanol proof tanks since getting regular gas is hard around here and 100LL can be $5.00 plus a gallon at the small airports. I seem to remember someone had built a set of aluminum tanks, but I can not find them any ideas.

Idon't think it had anything to do with the polishing compound but I now have a cracked windshield. So the 2 thicknesses seem to be 0.060 and 0.080 is there any advantage to the 0.080 or should I just use the 0.060.

8 inch wheels on an Avid
Looking at some of the pictures of tundra tires on Avids, my tires are looking a little weather checked around the sidewalls and I don't know about planes but for a car I would be nervous. Any how I would like to figure out how to mount 8 inch wheels. I know some of you have used Kitfox hubs but is there another way to do it. I have a couple of old ATVs that look like I could mount both the hubs and brakes any thoughts?

I will try the 3m kit, it would be easier than drilling all those holes in fiberglass. the next thing is to get it in annual and learn to fly. When my wife gets home we will put up pictures ;D

Need a New windshield for my Avid A
I have just obtained a new to me Avid Model A and need to do something about the windshield, there are no cracks, but if you are heading into the sun you can't see out of it. I figure I will need to replace it and was hoping somebody can tell me what thickness of Lexan to use. Thank You
