  1. Hi Leni, in a recent post of yours, you said you use Mecury Power Tune every 100 hrs. to get rid of the carbon in your engine. Can you tell me more about that product, and how you use it. My hour meter is showing 51 hrs. since I rebuilt the 582 last Sept. and I'm thinking about Rotax's saying to decarbon every 50 hrs. Thanks, Jim Chuk

I think Rotax says to decarbon every 150 hrs. It really depends on the amount of running you do in a short time and type of oil used. Sounds like the Mercury power tune is a nice alternative.

  3. BTW Today is the first time in months that Firefox let me come to this site without a Hacker Warning. Does this mean things are good again. :siterocks:

I knew AK was Alaska and that is what started my curiosity. Like you I tried a search using AK with similar result. I have noted that you, Leni, and SuberAvid seem to be AK and was wondering how many more. Just curious.

I just tried to do a member search with the "advanced filters" and put in the location but it showed up with 0 members when I put AK or Alaska in the location slot. I am not sure if I can do anything else to search for members in a general area.

One good way we could do it would be to start a thread to say a lil something about the area you live or fly in, then one could search that thread for any given location and it should show the posts that have that state, city or country in it. Now all we have to do is get all 540 something members to actually post and we would have a good data base to search :lol:/>

  5. I have noticed a number of members have AK behind the names. I know your from the SoCal area. I am curious if there is a way to search the members page to check where people are flying their Avids and Kitfoxes. Just a curiosity. Looks like these are great inexpensive bush plane.

Leni (AKFlyer)is the owner and creator of this website. Joey (C5Engineer) is a moderator. Since Leni works on Mars and is away from the site often I volunteered to help out. If you need a post edited, moved, deleted, ect send me a Private Message and I can work it for you.

Have an idea for the site or something you would like to see added? Let us know! While neither of us are particularly computer savvy we will do our best to keep everyone happy.

The goal when this site came online was to not moderate the heck out of peoples posts and opinions like some other sites out there. Avidfoxflyers is a place to share information, brag, shoot the breeze, and have fun! I'm here strictly to houseclean and keep things running smoothly.

  6. Your making me wish I had something faster than dial-up so I could watch them!

I don't know how or if this would work on dial up but using firefox there is a addon that allows you to download youtube and vimeo videos to your computer. Then you can watch them at your time. I have found it does download faster than watching and I think you have the option of downloading lower quality video. Let me know if that works.

Great video and nice country you fly over. Odd thing is there is no white cover on the ground :)/> Nice touch and fly on the hillside.

  7. The Ex-wife

Tim decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend.

    One evening, after the honeymoon,

he was assembling some loads for an upcoming hunt.

His wife was standing there at the bench watching him.

After a long period of silence she finally speaks.

Honey, I've been thinking, now that we are married I think

it's time you quit hunting, shooting, hand loading, and fishing.

Maybe you should sell your guns, boat & airplane.

Tim gets this horrified look on his face.

    She says, "Darling, what's wrong?"

"There for a minute you were sounding like my ex-wife."

"Ex wife!", she screams, "I didn't know you were married before!"

    "I wasn't "

  8. Not sure how this is going to work as this is my first post to this forum. First thing to do is to determine where the problem really lies. If the radio sounds fine on the ground with the engine running ask the people receiving to try to identify the problem. Is it too much noise from the background or is it an electrical generated noise. Before checking for mic issues you may have to check your mic technique. If the mic is not touching your lips then it is too far away and may let more background noise into the system. Also talking too loud because you think you have to overcome the noise of the engine will actually overdrive the mic and cause distortion making your transmissions hard to read. Couple of things to think about to try and help you track down the real issue. Just my two cents.
