Okay, its something in the way Firefox (V3.5.3) interprets the themes.  The first two on the list are the same as my f'ed up screen shots previously posted.  The third (Classic YaBB something or another) is back to something like normal again.

    Weird...

    Wheel Landings
Does anyone do them with their Avid or Kitfox?

My instructor said he has only wheel landed his plane a dozen times in over 2000 hours of flying it.  Therefore we didn't do any in training.

I run FF at work, too.  (Where I am now)  The display on this one is fine.

I really think it is something in my home computer's FF settings, now.  The only weird thing is AFF is the only site that is funny like that...

    Site issue...
The display of the AFF site has gone goofy on my home computer.  (See attached screen shots)  It's fine from other computers, so that makes me think it's a setting or something I did wrong...

    Any thoughts?

I tried to PM Leni with this, but that is all f'ed up too...

I was signed off to fly on my own this afternoon.  Did the mandatory 3 landings and TOs and nothing got bent...

Going back in the morning for a couple of hours practicing, then off to my first fly-in in my own Kitfox!

I hope it goes as well for you, Joey!!

Yeah--  Hopefully tomorrow I'll be signed off to go on my own with it...

I have a instructor-friend who is a Kitfox owner/builder and he is doing the transition training work with me.  We've got about 6 hours dual and he usually says about 10 for a good transition.  I need some more x-winds and wheelies and I'm good to go.

    Sun Chips
They not only taste like, they even look like corrugated cardboard.

A woman must have invented these.

  12. Av8r3400 added a post in a topic September 11 never forget

To all of those have served or who are serving now (C5--  Thank you!), there are not words to communicate my gratitude.  To all of those who have given the ultimate, especially those of flight 93, I pray that their sacrifice will not be forgotten by the ignorant sheepish masses, I know that I will never forget them in my thoughts and prayers.

Nothing infuriates me more than hearing that the morons of DC have now made 9-11 into a day of SERVICE,  to the STATE!!  Communist bastards, especially the one in the white (whore) house.  To me this is the ultimate insult to the memory of those who gave all.

  14. Av8r3400 added a post in a topic How many hours do you fly a year?

I don't have any history, but my goal is to get 50 hours in this next year (before Airventure 2010) and my "stretch goal" is 100 hours.

(See you there! I'll be in the same place.)

(I can't argue with weight vs performance!  You have me there. )  But, we'll agree to disagree on durability and safety of 2-strokes and move on.  Both of you two are still welcome here on the way to Oshkosh 2010.  I'll be waiting on and looking for you!!!

There has been some talk of a "Flapperon Society" fly-in to Airventure 2010.  Avids, Kitfoxes, Ridgerunners, Justs, etc.  We'll fly into the ultralight area for better exposure and more fun to a grass strip!!  More to follow on this...

    Doug,

Here are a couple of pictures of the 1050.  There are (4) four attach points on the longerons for gear/floats.

Look at that wiring.  It is everything that Smitty's plane was not!!!  For that alone, I couldn't pass this little bird!

    Doug,

The firewall on my 1050 appears to be that same .015-.020" stainless material.  It is not galvanized and is not aluminum.

  18. Av8r3400 added a post in a topic Avid rebuild

During transition (and even later) it was recommended to me to take the cam plate off the tailwheel so that it cannot unlock and go to swivel mode.

Many a Kitfox and Avid have been damaged due to a slightly loose tailwheel to rudder alignment which causes the tailwheel to go to swivel during landing.

Just a piece of advise I got from a 2000 hour Kitfox driver.

1050 vs 1200 = carry-through tube thickness (at the main spars and the lower strut mount), wing strut diameter and height of the tail

(I think are the only difference.)

[engineer / machinist hat = on]

316 SS would be more prone to cracking than the 304.  303 would be even better, but harder to find and more $$.

I'd bet Leni'll have more than this or this in that project once it flies.  Ant it would still be extremely experimental and unproven.

I just don't want to loose our forum owner to some    2-stroke.

An 80 hp would be even less.  Without even digging I bet I could find a 80 hp 912 for less than $10k.

I've owned enough snowmobiles to know I would never fly behind one of their motors.  Call me crazy...
