    That is what I paid for new modules two years ago from LEAF.  There are different configurations, this was the newest version.  I had to change plugs on the engine to match it.   The ones with the same plugs as my engine was $1500 each.

    Here are some details of our party.
    Thursday afternoon starting at 4-ish my wife and I will host our 5th annual "Flapperon Party" at our campsite (EAA Chapter UL75).  Food and beverages will be provided.  After the party we all venture over to the STOL demo.  This is a change from previous years where we held it on Friday.  We (and everyone else) have too many schedule conflicts on Friday.

    Should be a good turn out this year!  Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you guys...

    Keep in mind that synthetic oil will not begin to coke until over 400º F.  Even the semi-synthetic Sport +4 will easily handle 300º or more with out degrading.  The 230º number is extremely conservative IMO.
    These engines like to run hot and fast.  That's what they are designed to do.

    KItfox 3 Project
    Long story short:  The gentleman that I bought my yellow Kitfox from back in '09 had another plane he was working on.  A Kitfox 3.  Johnny pass away a couple of years ago and this project was abandoned.  It is a covered, through poly brush, fuselage and wings, with all of the other parts to complete.  It was set up for a 912, but, unfortunately the engine was sold shortly after his passing.  There is an older, but never run,  grey head 582 with mount that needs rebuilding due to it sitting for many years with the whole thing that can go with the project.
    I will be picking up this project and transporting it to my hangar in the next couple of days to help sell it.  I'm really not interested in parting it out.  We would like to sell the entire collection complete.  I believe most everything is there to complete the plane (less the 912) or convert it to use the 582.
    Mary, Johnny's widow, is motivated to sell it.  We are starting at $7500 for the entire works, but reasonable offers will be accepted.




    I hope to have some more photos of the collection shortly to post here first before it goes up on Barnstormers and other places.

    First and foremost:  Get a copy of the NOTAM.  Link.   Read the entire thing, but especially understand page 19.
    1). Yes your Avid is perfectly welcome at the Ultralight Field.
    2). Yes you are perfectly welcome to camp under your wing in the Ultralight area.
    3). You are supposed to be there.
    What is "the official guidance document"?

    I did the molded windshield and skylight with out incident.   Bubble doors too.

    In flight with this system, on a long decent for example, the motor could slow from the point of engagement causing the prop to windmill.  Correct?
    Has this system been flown yet?  What is that behavior like?

    I did the 16 hour course when I had my previous Kitfox (it was E-LSA).  I took it at OSH during the winter.

    The course is VERY remedial.  There were a few things that I took away, making it not a total waste, but, be prepared to be bored out of your mind most of the time.  Like Joey said, most of the information you can readily find on the web or you already know.
    My instructor was a very knowledgeable IA, but had no clue about 2-strokes or Rotax engines in general and spent some time bad mouthing them until he was challenged.  This was back in 2009 or 2010.
