  3. 4aplat-

Thanks for the pics, love to see what other guys have done. I have been thinking about installing my headset plugs behind the seat my self, seems like it may get the cords out of the way a bit, you could also put a small hook on each side of that mounting plate to hang them on when not in use. Do you like this set up better than plugging them into the dash?

    -Robert-

    Hi robert

There's not enough place on my dash to put the 4 plugs

    tdb3.jpg

and I had to add a battery isolator switch near the battery

the only place available was the place on the picture so I put the headset plugs in the same place.

I realy like to have them here but My new DC X11 have the first wire not long enought, and I had a blulink BT adaptator (with the same problem)

So now, I've just a wire under the seat with 2 blugs at the end of them !!

you could also put a small hook on each side

    what is a hook ???

  4. Very Nice,is this factory or did you make it yourself? Im wanting to make something just like it. Im also very interested in your access door on the side could we get some more pics of this area open and closed please?

    Thanks Robert

I'LL make some pictures next week end if the MTO is good

the plane was like this (it's a second hand)

  5. it makes it a pain in the butt to put on sometimes.

    whow, that's a nice expression !!!!!!!!

my turtle deck is a one piece turtle deck all in lexan or plexyglass

    no problem to remove it

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow if the weather is not too bad

  7. I remember seeing a Grand Rapids EIS 2000 awhile back on Barnstormers.Dont know if its still there but a good place to start.Thats what I have in my Skyraider, its got a lot of info.I didnt get the fuel flow sensor but got pretty much everything else.I even got the outside air temp, that way you will know how bad your going to freeze your ass off if you have to set her down.Heres a pic of mine when I was building.Randy

    Hi

I suppose EIS is "Engine Instrument system" ?

If yes, there is one ine the MGL catalog (MGL VELOCITY E1). It could check 4EGT, 4 CHT Oil pressure and Temp, RPM and Volts

    it cost 300 $

On the picture the E1 is the one at the right of the speed gauge (badin ?)

    tdb04.jpg

the first on the left is a fuel computer

the second one is the altimeter/VSI/AIR temp

the one on the right is the compass

and in front of the passenger it's a personal GPS

In the MGL catalog, ther is a mini Efis (cost 1150 $)

  8. After much waiting, the Avid has finally flown!!!

It was a near calm evening in Vermilion yesterday and after a few test runs up and down runway, I poured the coals to the Avid and she lept off the ground and climbed like a rocket. It was most fun i've had flying in a long time. All that time spent inspecting, repairing, and painting has finally paid off. What a great feeling to fly a new plane for the first time and to do it solo. I feel a little like how a test pilot must feel after they hop in a new plane and take it skyward for the first time. I've included a couple pictures from last night.

  9. So I did understand you correctly. No doubt it works but I'm pretty sure that Finnish CAA wouldn't accept that kind of system.

I think they (CAA) requires a level or amount indication of each gasoline tank!

    Thanks anyhow.

    Regards,

    Keijo

    OK

we don't have CAA here for ultralight aiplanes !!

  10. I just have to indicate in the gauge how much gaz I add in each tank

ex : If I've got 15 l in the Left wing and 12 in the right wing

I add 24 in each wing so I will have to indicate 39 in the left and 36 in the other one

I use this on my avid and there is no problem

    MicheL

  11. Hello guys,

What kind of solutions you've got for fuel metering in your Avids?

Here in Finland it is required to have fuel indication of both (wing) tanks if they have a separate feed...

I have a Avid Flyer with tanks made from fiberglas (one in each wing root).

I tought first to add a sight gauge but how to build tank fitting (and be sure that it won't leak :-).

From Spruce I found something called fuel flow elbow and a rubber fitting for it (so that having a hole and that rubber fitting placed in it

and that fuel flow elbow to it?)? I think I'm missing something here... Sounds a little err... not too secure...

    Any help much appreciated,

    Regards,

    Keijo

    Hi

    sorry for my bad english

    you'll have to get a FF-1 or FF-3 from MGL (http://www.stratomaster.eu/desktopdefault.aspx?panelid=69&tabindex=0&tabid=0#FF-1)

2 Fuel Flow Sender (one for each wing) http://www.stratomaster.eu/lignes/mgl/pdf/en/ffdoc.pdf

and 2 'andair check valves" from spruce

  12. It's in France but I don't know where ! (it's not my avid)

I fly all the time without radio (I'm able to put it out of the plane)I just use it when I want to land on a big airport

My avid is on a private airport in the middle of nowhere

    MicheL

here is a vid of my little airport

  13. Beautiful countryside! France, I assume?

What is flying like there? Do you have to maintain constant contact with air traffic control? Is that a private airport? Tell us more...

  14. The only thing I have active on here is the forums. One day I will add more to the site as time allows, or if anyone is a website wizzard they are more than welcome to PM me and take it on.

    :BC:

there is only one thing to do : just modify the link

    I could help

  15. I forget how fortunate we are to be able to fly pretty much anywhere here in the US. When you get time look through the pictures and videos section. I put all my trip reports in there. Some of our members here do some really cool things in these little airplanes.

I'm no very good in writing in English

what I want to say is that I never fly more than 2 hours between take off and landing !

since January I fly 20 ours (it's hard to found time with the job, the family .....)

    and today 30 minutes

picture taken march 30 and may 1

  16. Nice looking Avid you have there! Welcome to the site! Please take time to post up pictures of your flying adventures and Avid modifications! There's lots of great info on here!

    Hi

I never fly more than 2 hours so no big adventure with the ludoplane

and for the mods : only a new dashboard with MGL gauges
