I put some methyl hydrate in mine and notice the fuel had a yellowish colour to it in the filters so I think it started loosening the resin ,I drained it all out so I dont think I would try it again ,dont know what is safe to use
-
thanks for the ideas everyone, I have no ground wire bonded to the frame just the 7 camlocs that hold it onto the airframe but maybe its not grounding properlty ,worth a try

Thanks for posting this, I'm having problems with radio noise,it seems to be worse at high rpms and my antenna is bolted on the turtle deck which is all aluminum ,so Im thinking the grounding shouldn't be a problem, is there a noise suppressor I should try or any other ideas , I seperated the antenna wire as far away from the electrical wires a s possible but hasn't fixed the noise, the radio model is a FL760

Thats good news Chris ,im glad you finally have a cowl option so I can stop feeling bad for you giving me the kifox cowl ,hopefully you get it flying soon
-
Thanks Ed, I will check them out ,I will probably get a riblette to copy so I get it right
-
Doug , would it be possible to add a flat bottom on the undercamber HH riblettes I have to build them like a speed wing riblette, It would add a little weight but dont think it would be to difficult but not sure if that would cause other issues, I know I would have to also deal the fuel tanks.
-
Thanks Doug always appreciate the knowledge you have stored up. I will seriouly look at the kitfox rib now that you mention not having to worry about extending the wing and which ever way I go will be using the removable kitfox wing tips, Thanks again

Thanks guys for the info, maybe I will l price out some kitfox Ribs and flaperons ( Kitfox 4 is what i would be after I think) I will have to read up on it again but if I remember I would gain alot of airspeed and still have the same stall speed. I may take you up on that Ed but probably wont get nothing started till winter, to dam busy right now.

I just picked up a new heavy hauler wing kit that a guy had but never put together ,I am thinking about extending the wing when I build it for the fat avid,Is there any plans for this or has anybody did it and is there anything else I should think about when I start this project. I would think about changing over to the kitfox ribs but sounds like alot of work

Looks awesome, just wondering what the W&B numbers were for it
-
Glad to hear you made it out and it was only a one nighter,I better finish my survival pack
-
Looks like alot of fun,and nice pictures, must a turned some heads when you pull up to the pumps in a float plane.
-
Looks very nice , I got a 67 camaro that I would like to put a new engine in ,but to busy building planes at the moment
-
Very cool , beautiful pictures as usualI ,noticed you seem to have got your wings folded pretty much straight back, do you have some way of attaching you wing to the tail section, the kitfox would attach back there with roughly a 2 foot piece of 4130 to hold the wings from swaying but the avid + doesnt seem to have any tabs for it
-
That is cool,I need one of those on my roof
-
Looking Good, nice to see another avid + almost ready
-
Pretty awesome fishing hole even if there not there yet
-
There prices seem to be going up. I think mine was round $650-700 a few years ago, I had very little room above the intake to clear the cowl so it worked out good for me

Yes Ed the braided cable is going to redrive and the small plastic line to the oil pressure gauge

I just source out a small oil filter for my soob its a Denso 115010-5480 its only about two and a half inches wide, kinda small but its made by subaru and will fit in between the engine and firewall,it also had a Fuji number 248-65801-00 , I plan on regular oil changes so think it will work fine

.Hi Lostman, nice job on getting your plane down and walking away ,I believe it was all cleaned up,I wish I had pulled the pan off when I first got it but at least now I know what I have and I will just keep checking it ,glad to here you are building a new project and look forward to your reports
