  1. Thanks for the update  and pictures ,just ordering up some 4130 for engine mounts so hopefully  will find some time to start my project

  2. Crazy start to the fire season, there saying the only thing that can put out the Fort Mac fire is alot of rain ,last I hear a few days ago was 1600 buildings destroyed, probably alot more by now, all the fires seem to be north of 100 Mile so far

  3. Teal did mention the cruise rpms for the yamaha but I forgot ,it might be in Rx1 yamaha post he made. The engine seems to have a good reputation in bikes and snowmobiles but havent heard of many of them in planes yet. Hoping to hear more on Steves highlander.  That was kinda another reason for updating, finding parts for the soob was getting tricky, took alot of searching for a water pump.

  4. Ya I got the adapter plate and RX1 engine, my brother is a mechanic and seems gung ho to try and install it in the avid. Just not sure how long its going to take and I may have to get another cowl ,not sure yet.I do most of my flying in the winter so got all summer to mess with it.The soobie  is running fine, I just figured if I can loose 50lbs or more off the nose with a more horse power ,it should be a good combo. I would like a little slower stall and better glide ratio so thats why im going to extend the H.H. wings. Thanks for the pics and update on the leading edge, once we start ,ill try and remember to post some pictures.:BC:

  5. Awesome pictures , Randy, did you do the leading edge extension on your avid? Got to recover my wings so going to do the leading edge and try extending the wings one bay

  6. I bought a adapter plate off of Teal, great guy to deal with, haven't started any of the  work for installing the yamaha RX1 yet  so mine will be awhile down the road

  7. Steve Henry received his AW cert on his RX1 powered Highlander yesterday. They are waiting on a different prop to test fly.

Thats awesome ,I'm pretty anxious to here how it works since I'm pretty much full steam ahead with trying one ,just got the c drive and shipping it to Teal. Got to figure out the motor mount which will be the next hurdle. The engine some pretty sweet.

  8. Hi cropduster the 4 cylinder is in the RX1 snowmobile 2003 -2005 ,I do have a extra one if you have troubles finding one closer to you,im up here in  B.C.Canada so shipping might be quite a bit. I am looking for a c drive if anyone has one lying around

  9. Steve Henry posted a video of his running yesterday.

Hi Teal,I have purchased a couple 2003 rx1 with low mileage so going put the fat avid on a diet and will be needing one of your adapter plates , I sent you a PM on here but not sure if you got it, heres my email if you have any left marshawk@shaw.ca

  10. Very cool, I was thinking of looking for a yamaha 3 cylinder genesis engine  and doing the conversion so would be interested in your adapter plate for the C drive.I don't know much about these engines so what is the reason for  you using the RX1 , I guess I thought the 3 cylinder would be lighter

  11. Thats a cool idea, I don't usually fly off the ice ,just the last couple years we have been getting spring in January, like the idea but not the price especially with our stinking dollar . Probably just throw the tires back on but will keep that in mind for some ski brakes and see if I can possibly rig something. Thanks for the idea!

  12. Our ski flying down here is sucking too, there's very little snow and the lakes are a skating rink, went last weekend and taxiing on the lake with skis was pretty much out of control situation

  13. Ed ,I bet there not walleye fillets your buying at costco that im thinking Bandit is hunting ,although maybe you can get them down there out of a store, the one thing I miss about the praires, kinda looks like the fishing shack cities that would pop up back there
