  1. I spoke again with the test pilot and I was incorrect about when the problem occurs.  It is when flying, not landing, that it happens.  When a gust lowers a wing it is difficult to impossible to pick it up with full deflection until the gust subsides.  I apologize for the misunderstanding and thank you for your help.

  2. Crosswinds while flying seem to be the problem.  A gust puts a wing down and until that gust subsides the full deflection will not raise the down wing.  My Avid also has about 20 degrees up and down travel.

    Thanks for your input Allen,

    Jim Bowerman

  3. I find that my Avid Bandit seems to lack adequate roll control, particularly in a crosswind.  I have been unable to pin down exactly how much travel from up to down with full stick deflection the flaperons should have.  Does anyone have the actual degrees of travel and how to adjust them available?

    Thanks in advance,

  4. Yes, that is my conclusion as well.  I am not going to change anything, just wanted to know if there was some special reason, other than monitoring, for the EGT installation since there was no way for the pilot to control the mixture.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  5. I am going to have to confess that I had my head in a dark smelly place when I first placed this query about my Avid having a CHT.  It doesn't.  What it really has is a Jabiru 2200 with an EGT gauge and a probe in each exhaust manifold, but NO mixture control.  Any ideas why this instrument would be installed under these conditions?  Is it normal to have it on this engine?

Sorry about the mistake, but thanks for any help,

    Jim

  6. Tjay,

Thanks for the information and for the manual download location.  Both are valuable.

  7. OK, I know what the CHT gauge indicates, but what value or peak or ? will the CHT indicate when it is time to throttle back.

    Thank you for the response,

    Jim

  8. I am a new Avid owner and the airplane has a Jabiru 2200 engine.  There is a CHT gauge in the cockpit, but no way that I have found to lean the engine.  Is there a purpose for the CHT with the Jabiru other than for leaning the fuel?  This from a mostly Lycoming and Continental engine guy.

    Thanks,

  9. I am a new Avid owner and have discovered the geometric problems with the standard Matco brakes.  I would like to consider replacing the rudder and brake pedals with something that is better and understand that you have developed such a system.  If that is true, please send me the specs and costs.

    Thanks,
