  1. Seems like everyone I talk to has a different opinion about running 100LL. I know guys that run only 100LL, some run it if it is the only the available and some will not run it at all. So I am flying cross country and need fuel and the is no auto gas available and use 100LL. I know Leni recommended to use an additive with it for the lead. What is the best additive out there to use?

  2. Chris,

For starters can you tell me what brand you used for the sealant and adhesive?

What are the dimensions of the holes and how much "flange" area did you use?

How long did you let it 'cure' before closing up?

How long did it take you to complete the whole process?

A parts list would be most appreciated.

    Looks good!

  3. Well crappola... got stuck on the slope yesterday due to a blow so I am gonna miss this one... next class not until October... on the positive side they did give me a refund!

  4. I have had really good luck with LL Johns Associates. They are a broker and you can talk to John Gostinger at 248-666-7204. I used them for my Glider and now for my Avid. Mine is ~$900 a year and that is with full in motion hull.

  5. Hey Leni,

I just got registered and got my tickets arranged for the Feb 16-17 Two stroke Rotax class at CPS. You still thinking about going? When you gonna get that lazy butt of yours back to the slope... we got oil to flow!!

  6. Thanks everyone for the great info. I assume that since the tank is still in the wing that it is sufficient to have two people tank the wing and rotate it to insure that the tank is sufficiently coated? Also what do you do about stopping the fuel line port? I see from the instructions at Caswell that you should blow air in the fuel line port for about 10 minutes. Any other advice you guys have for getting this done right the first time?

  7. OK My new Avid is great with one issue. The right wing tank has a slow leak in it. I talk to Brett at Airdale and he recommends the replacement tanks that he sells at wingtanks.com but I have heard there is a treatment that you can do to the tanks (not recommended by Brett). Does anyone know about the treatment and have a link for the product? I will be replacing the tanks at a later date but would like to do this short term if possible. I am going to go to the EAA Fabric Workshop when I get the chance as there is fabric work required for a tank replacement and I have never done it.

  8. I need to purchase the towbar that connects to the tail so that I can tow it a short distance. Where can I find one?

  9. Thanks everyone.

It has the wing extensions installed. As for performance this is what the current owner told me:

"I cruise 85-90, stall is 38. I climb out pretty fast at 70 or so and still get 1100 fpm climb rate" That is solo. We will see when I get it!

  10. Well Mr Lenny (AKFlyer) has been talking and showing me his videos for a few years now so I finally pulled the trigger and purchased an Avid Mk IV with a 582 and the extended aerobat wing. Will be going down to pick it up the Monday after Christmas. Looking forward to flying to it!

You guys have probably seen it on Barnstormers but just in case here it is:
