Hey Ed, where can I see that page of the Kitfox manual? I'm getting ready to glue the new tanks in now, and would like to have a reference to show.

Anybody have the cylinder alignment bars for the 582 for sale or maybe rent or something?

I understand the theory of P factor, torque, gyroscopic precession, spiral propwash. All 4 cause a plane to pull to the left on takeoff. (Actually, precession makes a plane pull one way when the tail lifts and the other when the plane rotates). In a geared engine though, P factor and spiral propwash will be opposite the normal direction. But torque and gyroscopic precession will be offset by the prop turning opposite the crankshaft. I was just wondering what the net effect is. Guess I'll find out in a few months, with a little luck. Hope to be ready to cover by summer.

I've been curious how much the torque of the reverse-turning prop offsets engine torque. Do you have to use left pedal on takeoff? Might be hard to get used to.

Thanks for the answers. What kind of lights are other guys using on their Avid/Kitfoxes. Most of what i see at Spruce is big bucks and too large anyway.

Having a hard time finding the FAR requirements for lighting on planes of this type. Nav lights, strobe, etc. Anybody know where to look?

Yes. My assembly manual calls them nose ribs.
-
Yeah, I've got 3 or 4 broken ones. Haven't got that far yet.

Just noticed that the nose ribs on my wings are about 1/8" taller than the other ribs. Do they have to be sanded down? Lot of sanding.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciated.

Hey thanks

My kit is missing some parts. What is the thickness of the turtle deck material. I have instructions, but not dimensions

The kit I bought came with new tanks, supposed to be ethanol safe. Same amber color as fiberglass, but doesn't seem to have the cloth texture, very smooth. I've decided to go ahead and put them in now. My question is what adhesive is used to glue them to the aluminum spars? It's a pretty gappy fit, would take a lot of expensive epoxy. I read through some posts on this site and saw one or two mentions of silicone. Is that a good choice? What type of silicone?

Thanks all. I ordered some T88

I'm making a new rib to replace one that was damaged in storage, I suppose. Anybody know what glue they used to build the ribs? Clear, brownish glue, not the gray stuff. Thanks

Thanks everybody for your responses. I've had the project a couple of weeks, plus semester finals and I got sick, so I haven't spent much time with the manuals. Hopefully I'll have a bit more time over the break.

Hi all. I'm new to this group. I bought a MK IV unfinished kit a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions. I'm in A&P school and have my Airframe cert. Looking forward to getting to know some of you. I'm in Southern Idaho, by the way. One quick question. The linkage for the flaperon lever drags on the bottom of the seat. (Actually, it pushes up against the seat when you push the lever down). Also, the tube is bent in a curve downward. I've adjusted the seat a bit by loosening and tightening the tie cords, but it still drags. Is the control lever supposed to snap over center when pushed down, or is it just held in place by the friction device? Any suggestions? My seat is a padded sling type. I assume it came with the kit. I'm not home right now, so I don't have any pics. Thanks.
