  1. I just run the standard handheld antenna and a ptt off that . It works way better then my external antenna. When I was hooked up to my external it was always noisy . With the rubber handheld antenna it's really quiet and I can still hear about 35 miles away.

  2. Nope just a 2 place from what the site said . Doesn't look like much is going on with them but maybe someone is trying to re-vamp it ?

  3. Looks like it's a plane that isn't being built anymore. Gross weight was like 1800lbs . It would be neat but a hyperbipe would be way better to build off of . You could tube and fabric that plane.

  4. Durand Mark V

    All metal stagger wing biplane

Just nosey - saw it on this month's Kitplane mag and cant remember seeing it before, and no ID on lower left photo to go to charts to find it.  Thanks,

Sorry, for strange posting - I got distracted and didn't put the scan of the mag cover on it the first time.  EDMO

  5. You never know . In my 20 years building and flying experimental aircraft there's a lot of stuff I've seen go wrong that shouldn't have . Not necessarily to my aircraft but others. I go by a thinking of if it doesn't need to be done don't do it unless you're willing to pay for the consequences. It's not my plane so it's not my business just putting my 2 cents worth.

  6. I have a yaesu ft 310 in mine . I have the option of rechargeable battery or using AA batteries. I also have the cigarette lighter charger too . It seems to work great , I can hear my home airport 35 miles away using just the rubber ducky antenna. Here's the link , I only use the radio feature I haven't figured out the vor or nav stuff yet.

  7. Regular clear packing tape on the top and bottom . make sure you deflect the stab each way while installing so it can attach in the middle . It's the one thing I've been meaning to do but keep forgetting.

  8. Remember to check that rpm on climb . All my temps were high because it was pitched for climb and it made it run higher rpms for everything resulting in higher temps. Not sure if I'm making any sense but that's what happened before I re pitched for cruise.

  9. Mine just goes over the back of the seat too.Stays out of the way and no extra crap in the cockpit.

  10. I have a somewhat post about my journey replacing my cowl to the radial style. I refused to have a belly radiator and made mine work inside.

Hi.  I'm moving my Catalina's prominent radiator inside.     Does anyone have a faired/cowled 582 radiator setup that they're happy with?  What's your approximate inlet area?   I'm having a hoot reading NASA CR3405 and other resources, but I'd like to also see what has worked for other similar planes.  I assume most of our planes would have similar climb speed, cooling needs, and radiator area, so I'm guessing other people's experience would be directly applicable.

I have lots of room to play with, so I can make the inlet/outlet almost any size I need, but a starting point would be helpful.

    Thanks!

  11. If you don't want the 2 smoke regulator I'll take it . I have a old timer I'm trying to help get flying again with his little ultralight

I'll stay with the same $50 for both regulators.

Since you're having trouble with your pm, drop me a direct email theav8rweb (at) yahoo (dot) com.

The filters would probably just sit on the shelf...  Just interested in the regulators.

  12. Can anyone post pictures of the sling seat ? I'm going to see a specialist soon about surgery on my lower back . I've got to many issues with it and need something done asap so I can actually get to have fun and not be in constant pain . All the years of playing is definitely catching up on my fast .

  13. I guess I'm training for a job in the Trump administration - draining the swamp!  3" pump has been running about 8 hours a day for the last 4 days, draining the pond/swamp that formed behind the new hangar.  The frogs were very busy with all the new water - there must be a million tadpoles in it, and it has only been there a week now.  I don't think I'm exaggerating much there either.  It covered about 1/2 acre, about 3feet deep, and it is thick with them every place I looked.  I have it down to about a foot, and it has shrank in size to about 1/3 acre.

Borrow a gator - He will get rid of the frogs!  ;<)  EDMO

Heck no, the tadpoles will get rid of the mosquito larva, and the frogs will take care of the ones they miss!  I just hope a nasty water moccasin doesn't take up residence.  Then I'd have to buy that Judge pistol I've been eyeing for years!

Any excuse for another pistol is good enough for me - You could always say, "I think I saw a Golly-Whopper of a snake in the pond"!  ;<)  EDMO

Well, it worked for me - When I went to Alaska I told my wife, "My guns aren't big enough to stop a bear", right away I got bigger ones!  ;<)  EDMO

So, what's the kickback like on an elephant gun? :BC:

I had a 6 gauge, Muzzle-loading, "Elephant gun" once but never fired it.  I think the slug weighed 2 ounces.  My Grandfather said they used to hunt ducks and geese with a 2 gauge "Punt Gun" strapped to a duck boat.  I saw a video once of a large guy who was shooting both barrels of a 10 gauge magnum at the same time and he survived it to dispel the myth that it would break your shoulder - probably would have put me on my ass!

.44 and .444 and 45/70 were enough for my small frame.   People get into trouble when they go hunting with a "Deer Gun" up there, when they should be hunting deer with a "Bear Stopper"! .45 Casule has so much kick that the bullets come out of the case and jam it up when you need it - Beware!  I probably should be selling my guns now since I don't hunt or shoot anymore.  EDMO

    Ed I like guns

  14. Well it looks like 2 good ideas to me. Luckily for me I'm 5'8 and 150 lbs so I don't need to do any widening. It comes with a downfall too , I need a cushion so I can see over the dash of a 172 . My loehle 5151 also needed some seat mods so I could actually see too. Sometimes it's good being small sometimes not so much . The only thing I don't like about the avid seat is that it sits so straight up .

  15. Haha we're holding 90° and up . I can't remember the last time it was cold for Halloween in Florida. My downfall is the 90% rain chances this weekend . I was hoping to get back in the air .
