I have general measurements now and can make nose gears for the MkIV if anyone wants a stock style.
-
Depends on how many gallons the wing tank holds and how much flying you want to do before refueling.
-
Sand them and put some ospho rust inhibitor on them then prime and paint . I also have a set of 9 gallon wing tanks that might work for your plane .
-
I have a set of 9 gallon fiberglass wing tanks for sale . Never been used or drilled .
-
From the smiles I think you have a couple of pilots. I wish I lived closer a kr1 would be fun to play with
-
My oil injection one is exactly like that one .
-
Your bungee looks bigger then 3/8 but I could be wrong . I would redo the bungee and see how it goes . You might be able to fix it by wrapping it a little different.
-
Well I bought the cap and it didn't work . Out curiosity I took the one of my old oil injection tank and it was exact. I'll be turning it into my wing tank cap asap .

Standard speed wing on a mkIV is 24ft extended is 26ft. Hopefully the extended will help with your weight.

Nah it's easy for me . I have the 8oz bottles and each for 50:1 takes 3 gallons of fuel . I change my plugs or at least look them over every 25 hours or so anyway since my motor is inverted.

I don't recall your wing size but if it's short like my speed wing then you'll never use the flaps . I tried a couple times and I didn't like how it felt . I rely on slipping if I have to . I have a u tube video spot landing with a couple slips in there , way more fun coming in sideways.

I don't mind the pre mix . If I know my plane is going to sit for a little while I'll put in a few gallons of avgas and it keeps the octane where it needs to be . I usually run half mo gas and half avgas anyway.
-
If they are relatively straight I would just pop a couple rivets in and move on to the next .

You'll definitely have to replace the fabric. If it's painted you couldn't re iron it either you would just melt the paint . Again Jimchuck and his 2 cents are right about what you have to do . Hopefully it doesn't end up being a nightmare.

I'm with Jimchuck on this one . Is it seeping or a waterfall of fuel leaking ? If it's just seeping get a good tank sealant and slosh it around. Way cheaper and less time consuming then removing the tank .

720lbs ? My plane comes in at 545lbs with a 582 and speed wing . I think my gross weight is only 1150 lbs . Is 1200lbs the normal gross weight?

Looks like a easy and simple thing to make. I could even powder coat them

Joey you make a very valid point. I ran into a perfect example of this just in the last couple of weeks. A non-pilot selling an overweight Aventura UL converted into an HP sold his plane to another non-pilot. I went to look at the plane just a day or so before it sold to the second non-pilot. The first owner figured out how to fly and land the plane but had no formal training. While discussing the plane I asked him how it stalled. He was puzzled and didn't seem to know what I was asking him. Yet he had been flying the plane! I decided to walk away. It was a nice plane but I just wasn't 'feeling' it.
I'm be willing to bet this guy told the next non-pilot he sold it to something along the lines of "I figured it out, its easy to fly..." Because the next week I saw this plane in the news, upside down in a local lake. The new owner decided to fast taxi on the lake on a day with winds 15G20+ . Fortunately no one was hurt other then in the wallet.
I read about that in the local news .

I got to fly a sportcruiser and wow that was a fun plane . It just depends on what you really want .
-
Local auto parts store had it . It looks like mine so we'll see come Sunday. Hopefully it's the right one . Mine is falling apart and I've done everything I can to get it to seal but I still get a leak . It worked great for awhile then out of the blue I'm leaking fuel on take off out the back .
-
I might of had the wrong part number . Mine was a federation fuel cap.
-
I need a new one for mine too . I went everywhere with the part number for it . The ones they had were a deeper and wouldn't work . If you so find one please post the part number .

Luckily my wife snapped back into shape after both of my daughter's were born . She actually looks pretty much the same after 12 years together so I can't complain at all .
Just picked up this Model 1 kitfox

My mkIV has a single 18 gallon tank and I run a 582 . I fly around 3-4 hours on it with reserve depending on how I set my cruise . I wouldn't mind more fuel myself but It's just to much work that I don't feel like dealing with . After a couple hours I'm ready to get out and stretch my legs anyway.
