  1. Took a break and was doing a ton of work on my plane. Ended up painting it and way to many other things to list but I did keep the radiator in the cowl and it stays at 160°  in the summer heat woohoooo.

  2. On the other hand, if I was going to do something that might very well mess up my day, and someone showed me a better way, I would be glad they stepped forward, and I avoided a costly repair.  To each his own, I always try to help, and hope it comes across that way.  At this point though, I've said as much as I'm going to on this subject.  JImChuk

I'm with you Jim but you said it right to each his own ....

  3. Hey kids this is the experimental world of aviation. That being said no plane is going to be the same no matter what you do . Mine is a true speedwing with a 582 3:1 c box and a 72" warp drive tapered tip. I get 1200 fpm solo and cruise around 120mph. You can have all the same equipment and get very different results. Landing gear being flipped around on avids has been a hot topic since it was designed. I heard about it years before I even got one so it had to come from people who tried and lived to tell the tail. Cg on these is also a hot topic and most are nose heavy and whatever someone does to make it a little more center is there business. I'm definitely not worried abot weight and all that considering I weigh 150lbs and my plane is around 535lbs. It has been put on a diet but I did add a couple things that didn't make anymore nose heavy or tail heavy . Shit I can honestly tell you I didn't weigh it after because the stuff I did was minimal in weight it was all for performance. If how someone sets there plane up and chooses to fly it is going to start bickering don't fly in it and stick to your own plane. I know this will start some mud slinging on my end bit when is everyone going to realise we have these little planes so we can do what we choose with them and use the manual as a guideline ? It's not a certified plane where tou have to stick to the book .... Now go out enjoy your plane and don't worry about someone elses choice. I'll get off my soapbox now and go make some parts for mine and a couple other peoples GOODNIGHT

  4. I have a survival knife that has a flashlight, seatbelt cutter , flint and starter, window breaker. I also have general tools in my baggage compartment that are a flat and Phillips screwdriver, socket set and ratchet adjustable wrench , zip ties , safety wire, spark plugs and a couple other things

  5. Hey Northidahoflyer,

if it came off a pusher it will not work on a tractor configuration.....blades would be back to front. Hope that makes sense

I was told by a propeller manufacture that the 912 pusher prop would work on the 582 in the tractor configuration.

    Here was their reference:

    TWO-STROKES

For all TWO-STROKE engines normally used with Ultralight/LSA:
                    - PUSHERS with GEAR-boxes run a RIGHT turning prop
                    - PUSHERS with BELT-drives run a LEFT turning prop
                    - TRACTORS with GEAR-boxes run a LEFT turning prop
                    - TRACTORS with BELT-drives run a RIGHT turning prop

         FOUR-STROKES

      The FOUR-STROKE engines (912, 912S & 914) turn opposite the two-stokes and are only available with GEAR-boxes...
                    - PUSHERS run a LEFT turning prop
                    - TRACTORS run a RIGHT turning prop

I know that the prop on my tractor 912 is a right (CW) tuning propeller and will not work on my tractor 582. My 582 takes a left (CCW) turning propeller. A 912 pusher propeller is also a left turning propeller. Do they have this wrong??

Thanks for the heads up. This would be a deal changer for sure...lol.

Bite the bullet and get a warp drive 3 blade taper tip. I love it on my plane it has good pull and cruises nice.

  6. The framework for the fuselage thats about it. I have industrial velcro holding it up. So far it holds pretty good only time will tell.

  7. Here is the C model rear dash in my mk4 . It works pretty good plus it has the pocket to store more stuff .

  8. I did when I took my seat out to do some work and reinstalled it . I didn't have everything right when it went back in and it was rubbing on the control tube when I sat in it just enough for some friction. Yours could be different but that was my experience.

  9. I took a couple but it was to high resolution. I'll get some soon when I go and put my throttle cables in.

  10. I got ahold of a c model rear dash and got it to work in my mk 4 . I'm sure there are more out there. I like how it came out now I have room behind me with a pocket and the baggage compartment.

  11. I was in the same boat when I got my plane. I got it in a April and didn't fly until October because of the mess the previous owners made. It definitely sucks but you'll get a better understanding of your plane if you rip into everything and inspect it yourself.

  12. I just think it's pretty stupid to have in our little planes. I stay clear of all that garbage anyway so I should be fine. How long have we been flying without this stuff ? Now all of a sudden we are told we have to have it . Just like the faa making rc pilots register their planes now wtf. The ama governs them if you are a member and the faa should stay out of it. Just the government trying to get more money.

I guess I'll be the rebel .... I don't plan on doing anything to my avid for the adsb crap. It's a little tibe and fabric plane . We've all been flying without that crap so why buy something some of us will barely use. I'll jist stick to flying around like normal until they come down to a 16th of the value of my plane. I say let the big expensive planes have them and leave the little experomentals alone. Plus that crap looks to damn confusing . I would rather be flying and scanning then have a computer screen in my plane . That's just me and I'm sure there will be backlash .

As long as you stay out of the airspace where it is required, there is nothing wrong with that.  If not, expect to become an example for the rest of the GA community.  I predict the FAA will have no mercy shortly after the deadline passes.

  14. Gotcha . I just need to find a place that can make them . Seems to be none around me . If I have to I'll order the kit but damn I'll have tons of extra. It's 15ft of inner and outer cable plus tons of other stuff

  15. I think they might work my elbows look a little smaller so that might help ? I think my outer housings were closer to 20 and 24 with a good swooping bend to make sure they weren't to tight. I run pre mix so that one wouldn't be needed. I'm not totally sure they would work but they do look pretty close and is a better option then the one I have now which is no cables at all.

  16. Remind me tomorrow, and I'll try to get a dimention for you.  Do you have the standard Avid throttle belcrank like in this picture?  JImChuk

Yup and that's why everyone I call has no clue about my cables. I've had the wrong ones sent to me 4 times now by a couple different companies.

  17. Well come to find out the lawnmower shop doesn't make cable anymore. Does anyone know how deep the carbs are ? That's the only measurements I need .

  18. The gyrocopter company I worked for ran those on 912 . They seemed to be a really nice prop . Couldn't tell you about performance with it but they liked them.

  19. yeah I fat fingered that one one.. I meant plugs down.  Too early in the morning here.  Will measure the ones I have and let you know.

any luck finding what cables you have ? If I can find out how deep they go in the carb it would be easier but I can't get to my plane until next weekend. I was hoping to have cables by then and not scratching my ass trying to figure it out . I do have a lawnmower repair shop local that makes cables but without knowing how deep they go in the carb it's useless.
