Snow and no snow

Any calm day is a good day to fly; some days are clear blue with a lot of snow and some are grey with hardly any.  Today I had to tow the plane to the lake on the trailer because all of our snow is blown off the RW; and just barely enough to land on a swamp area out by the glacier.  But a couple of weeks ago it was clear blue and sunny and got up in the mountains to play.  Way too deep to step off the ski and I didn't want to drag the snowshoes out so took some lazy man pics.

Great pics as usual Randy.  I get back home the 24th, hopefully we can hook up and get in some flying time and not just work time!

SaWeeeet ride.  NICE Photos.   It looks GREAT on skis.  Interesting leading edge slats???   Zenith slats?   Do they help with slow flight?

Thanks, look forward to your reply at your convenience.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the note on my plane. It looks like you have a couple nice ones too; Avid Magnum & Airdale as well.

The slats are carbon fiber from Carbon Concepts here in Alaska. They make a big difference in slow flight!  If you do a search on Slats in this Forum you will find my thread on them with more details on the performance.  Also in that thread, Leni posted a connection to a Youtube post by Randy Apling , the owner of Carbon Concepts, with a short video clip of me landing with them.  it is a little hard to get it to open so you jut have to keep clicking on it.  They really add to the fun!

Randy
