I have 1 on the passenger side of the plane, hooks to the main body right at the wing support but where does it go? I'm new to this plane and aviation period so I should just start a thread called "dumb stuff Bubba ask"

My guess is that it is the support bar for when the wings are folded. Mounts to the leading edge spar when folded.

My guess too. Wing support only used when wings folded.

How does it tow backwards? I'm going to build a trailer trying to see if forward or backwards for towingv5 miles to my local airport.

I've hauled Avids and Kitfoxes probably 3000 miles or more on an open trailer, most of the time on the trailer in the picture.  Never had any damage doing it like this.  Usually that is the way it's done.  The main wheels sit on a stepped down platform as you see in my pictures.  Also, I'll say it again,  it's important to support the tail of the plane, and not just let it ride on the tailwheel.  When the wings are folded, they add a lot of weight to the tail.  Try picking it up, and you will see what I mean.  At best, the tail spring gets straightened out some,  at worst????  JImChuk
