WY kitfox Yamaha build

Just saying hello, been lurking here a while but finally joined since I got some projects caught up and can focus on my kitfox now.  I acquired a kitfox II a couple years ago it was at a nearly completed state but I have decided to dismantle it and start over. Plans are to implement a few of the great ideas found here and also add a few of my own. The major modification I’m undertaking is the removal of the 582 and installing an 07 Yamaha Phazer engine that I have been developing. So as the build progresses I’ll try to keep the thread updated and look foreword to any ideas and input.

That looks like a break Foundation to start with. I just started the journey of pulling this tank VW off the front end of my Avid A model. I might be very interested in that 582 FWF. I know you would have is a kitfox but I'll be fabricating mounts anyways.

I would like to find a home for the fwf but I feel like I should hang onto it till the phazer is somewhat proven. I don’t know what the timeline is on your project but my most optimistic estimate is October.

Man I wish we could get more done on your project it’s super exciting. If this proof of concepts I’d love for teal to make this gear box

I'm really not in a rush. Im dealing with the cabin right now. Trying to shoehorn my 6'2" 235lb self into it.

Meanwhile keeping a close eye on all the phazer projects...

the motor is advertised as 80hp. With the gearbox, adapter, throttle bodies and clutch it came in at 109 lbs, exhaust will be around 7lbs. I think it’s going to be a bit heavier than the 582  fwf but not much. The complete 582 fwf came in at 129 minus the prop.

If someone would take over my job and pay the bills I could have it done in a few weeks!

This custom stuff is soaking up a lot of time so I’m over a month behind but I think the mods will be worth it.

Some progress, header tank done, fuel pump mounted, panel started. I built my own adapter, I will do the wiring myself if a harness isn’t available when I need one.
