Next question. Where can I find the streamlined wood pieces for the wing struts? I've struck out.

I could get some measurements for you off of mine if you wanted to make some.

Also I believe TJay had made a post of the ones he had made for his plane.  Cheers Randy

Definitely measure them of you order from spruce. They will cut them free and shipping will be way less. I think they were going to charge 180 for shipping uncut . With them cut it was like 20

are you talking about the wood that actually goes on the struts or are you trying to do the jury struts.  If you are talking about the wood for the struts, it is a requirement to have them on there if you have the standard struts for increased strength.

If you are just wanting to fair the jury struts etc then the trailing edge material works great and just snaps into place and can be fixed there with duct tape, glue or zip ties.

I did a rivet here and there and some tape. Seems to be holding up good.

That's what I thought you were looking for.  I am not sure if the new avid factory is making them yet.  I know TJ on here made his own set with a shaper.  You might be able to get ahold of him and beg him to make a set for you.  I MIGHT have some at the house but I am not there to check right now and I'm sure shipping would make it cost prohibitive from AK.

See attached photos of the original stock fairings from Avid.  I traced the fairing for a quick drawing hopefully it makes sense.  Would be rather easy to make.  Notice the parts list basically tells you the size depending on which fairing you are doing whether lift struts or landing gear.  Mine are anywhere from 1"-2.5" longer from factory than what it shows on parts list ( I would assume to trim down to fit at roughly the dimensions listed on parts list)  Hope this helps.....Cheers Randy

Just guessing here, but if that part is required for adding strength you'd probably want to get the grain direction correct  (like it is in the photo above)

I finally made some wing strut cuffs that severely cut down the turbulence behind the forward wing strut and leading spar.

Looks like a piece of metal filled in with white silicone? Can you provide any details? How did you mount it?

I have a friend that works magic small fiberglass molds. I'm thinking I could have him help me make molds of these. Attach with two sided tape??

I used the aluminum trailing edge from Spruce on my Model B.

Since I'm only a mile from Spruce I just drive over and pick up a 10 foot section.

This fits on the jury struts and horizonal supports. I don't think they are an option for the wing struts.

The wing cuff I show is 6061 T0 25 thousands aluminum.

I used air dry clay to fill in the gap as a temporary measure, but have left it since it works fine.

After the clay dried I panted it with the same paint that is on the wings.

Here is a shot of my bush gear fairings. The domes on the center of the gear are two prop spinners back to back to cover the 20 square inch flat plate on the gear.

Opps! Loaded the shot twice.
