Made a little more progress though. The Minimax is maybe sold this weekend

so hopefully I can order the covering or maybe just the prop.Try not to laugh to hard at my rear setup , but it works well. Wringing is almost done don't know what to run for lights.

We all get some periods where we get stuck in nuetral on these projects!   I had a good excuse over the frigid months, but have had nice days lately and just too much other stuff going on to dig back in myself.

As far as lights, I think I'm gonna try the adsb wingtip solution:

http://m.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/skybeacon.php

And im gonna replace my nose light with something like this:

https://m.ebay.com/itm/Cutequeen-2-X-36w-3600-Lumens-Cree-LED-Spot-Light-for-Off-road-Lighting-Rv-At/292385796742?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20161006002618%26meid%3D8ab266b5204c4de6b5649a4dfc110372%26pid%3D100694%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D112865649452%26itm%3D292385796742&_trksid=p2385738.c100694.m4598

At 72w total, and with the rx1 stator putting out about 400w, there is ample power available so I plan to run the nose lights full time for visibility.

Looks like you are well on your way to having a nice airplane.  If it was me, I would widen the fuselage and add some bracing to the seat truss before you cover the airplane.  JImChuk

Jim,

Do you have any recommended reading for what modifications get done to these fuselages for "updating" or improvements?

One guy who changed his 582 to a Jabiru said everything included in the 582 installation weighed 135 lbs.  Jabiru with mount and oil came in at 136 I believe.  The Jabiru does sit a little further forward than the 582 though.  They are both lighter than the Yamaha though.  I would thing a stretched Avid would be much better than a standard length fuselage with that extra weight.  JImChuk

Jim,

Do you know of any write ups on stretching the MK4 fuse?

Jim,

Brett in Wi. did some of them, and the factory in Idaho did some before that.  Don't know of any plans or even good pictures of the strech, but there probably are some pictures around.,  JImChuk
