LEAD Counterweights

Since we touched on melted lead in another thread, I thought I might throw this out.  Instead of melting lead for counterweights I prefer to use the lead shot that is made for shotguns.  If you mix the shot with 9460, silicone caulk, or some other glue, you can put it inside of a steel tube, or mold it into any shape that suits your needs.  It can be contained in aluminum, steel, wood, pvc, or even wrapped in fiberglass and used to balance ailerons, elevators and rudders, or to add weight where you need it without getting burned.   EDMO

That's what I did with my loehle 5151.  They required hanging lead off the firewall and what not . Instead of that we filled the motor mount tubes with shot and it worked great .
