  1. I am looking to upgrade the panel in my Avid MkIV HH and like the idea of going 'Glass'. I use SkyDemon for flight planning and Navigating which I want to continue to use  as I think it's one of the best EFB systems out there.
    I have been looking at the MGL iEFIS Lite and like the functionality but wonder just how much of this can be made to work in the UK environment. Things like;
    The MGL radio is not approved for use in the UK. Can you integrate non MGL radios?The transponder can be integrated but the ADS-B out function is not LAA approved even with a certified GPS source.The Air speed and Altimeter data is not approved as primary display so we have to have steam gauges as well as the EFIS The terrain data for synthetic vision is obtainable for the UK but I don't do much mountain flying so that has limited value (to me at least)The navigation files will need to be purchased from a 3rd party vendor, how do they compare to SkyDemon and will all my favourite small strips be in the data base?So in conclusion I am beginning to feel that all the advantages of an EFIS system with its integration and high functionality evaporate and we basically have an Artificial horizon and an Engine Management System left. If I compare the functionality I would get for my pennies, would I not be better off fitting something like an AvMap mini EFIS and EngiBox or similar? There is a significant saving to be had with this approach and there is no false expectation that it will all 'seamlessly integrate' together.
    I stand to be corrected on any or all of the above, I would love to have the promised functionality that seems to be on offer from the likes of MGL, am I missing something here?
  2. Looking into shedding some weight and upgrading avionics a little.

    Is anyone running one of the Tablet EFIS systems? If so, which one and how do you like it?
