I dropped the poly tanks inside my crap fiberglass ones. Only 10.4 gallons now. Gives me about 1 1/2 hours of Flight. That's about all I can take at one time anyway.

I have always wondered why you would put all that money into a panel in a airplane that was intended to fly at 70 mph? No way would I consider a Avid or early Kitfox to be a cross country airplane. I fly my Bandit a hour and a half and I am ready to land and piss and stretch. Each to his own, but I like lite and simple. Don't get me wrong all those instruments are cool, but I like flying when I can look out the widow and enjoy the view rather than looking at instruments that I don't need.

The wide gear will make a completely different airplane during ground handling. Watch my video on u-tube after changing to the wide gear. I was able to taxi from one end of the runway to the other with no rudder input. I had directional control with my flaperons.

It would be a complete diffferent airplane on the ground with the wide gear.

I use the Artic Sparrow mixture control in which I can adjust the mixture manually. One turn of the mixture control is the same as one clip on the needle. I have never had both carbs adjusted the same. One cylinder has always ran hotter than the other.

Like Leni said, put the wide gear and the double spring 6" or 7" Matco tail wheel. Stay away from the maule.

I always wondered that to. My Bandit takes off just as fast with the tail held on the runway as compared to raising the tail on take off roll.

I had a dar send me the list when I was going to finish my SkyRaider. Looking at the list it didn't seem like a big deal.  It would have made the 51% rule. I didn't start the kit, but he said we could work that out.

The Kitfoxlite has flaperons not flaps and ailerons.

I thought it came from a old 625 Polaris? Does that sound right?

I decided not to Bolt my airframe to the gas strut bracket. I just raise the tail and slide it under the double spring the weight of the tail holds it on the bracket. Now there is no bending of the longerons or wrinkling of the fabric. I ran snow chains over the main gear to hold the front of the airplane. Now the whole airframe is free to move separately from the trailer.

I made a bracket with a gas strut that bolts to the rear hole in the fuselage for towing. Then I mounted the bracket to the floor. I rocked the trailer back and forth and the fabric wrinkled above the tow hole. Took the bracket off and set the tail wheel on the floor then strapped the tire down as if I was going to trailer it. Rocked the trailer back and forth, no wrinkling of the fabric. I am thinking maybe  should just strap the tail wheel down and go. I do have the tail raised to flight attitude while in the trailer. Maybe I should hard mount it to the floor like you did Jim.

    Trailering a Avid
When trailering a Avid with the tail up in flight attitude is it ok to run a bolt or such through the tube and bolt it to the floor near the tail post to take the weight off of the tail?
