Bandit added a post in a topic Best way to refuel a two stroke with no injection on cross countries?
The injection pumps seems pretty fail safe. I was told it doesn't hurt to burn a little 100 in it on a cc. But I have only done it a couple of times.

That is a nice installation, Looks as simple as you could get it. I will try to get some pictures of mine this weekend. I ordered the new F7A's and would like to get them in along with my new double tail spring.

Computer helpHey Ak you are a computer whiz. Thanks for the help in the Yahoo Avid group. Have a question for you. I ordered the new F7A's. What type of tool do you use to get the right degree's for the flaperons after you level the plane?

It sure would be fun to have a MarkIV Bandit with a 582 in it. If you are going mostly solo out of a 800ft strip this would be a great airplane. A Bandit with a 503 would work great to. The only thing bad about a 503 is you loose a few inches of leg room. I am only 5' 8" so this works for me. So far my 503 has been trouble free. I do run it according to Rotax specs though. Change plugs at 25 hrs., cab sockets show any signs of cracks replace them, change fuel filters every year ect. It cost you a few bucks to do this but I have around 700hrs of trouble free time on my 503. A 912 would be nice, but way to much money for me. The 582 or the 503 is so easy to install. If you look under the cowling of a airplane that has a 912 in it, it looks way to complicated for me. I like to keep things simple.

C5,
I should be getting my new F7s this week. How do you set the rigging for them?
Thanks,

Have you switched to the new F7A flaperon controls? If so is it worth it? How much rigging does it take after you install them?

The Bandit is a MK4 with out all the heavy useless options. Keep your airplanes light! My trim tab had a push pull cable going from the cockpit through the fuselage to the trim on the elevator. This never did work. When I tried moving my trim the cable housing bowed instead of the tab moving. I pulled the cable out and threw it away. Now I put a turn buckle on the tab. I guess at my trim, then go fly to see where I am at. Then land and adjust it to where I need it. I like to fly it a little nose up so I can trim it down with my flaperons. Then I went to the hardware store and bought a $1 spring which I connected to my trim lever and elevator control arm. If I need trim up this is how I get that, trim down is with my flaperons. Works great and is cheap and simple.

My Bandit is a Mk4. The difference is the Bandit is lighter and a little less gross weight. The Bandit does not have the aluminum leading edge, it has the sling seat not fiberglass, no interior, basic instruments, manual trim other wise every thing else is like the Mk4.

Torch,
I am not sure if you can use a 503 or not. Maybe give Airdale a call, they should be able to answer that. An A model with a 503 would be awesome. Flew 1.5 hrs. today. They sure preform good in 15 degree weather.

Torch,
Glad to see you are interested in the Avid. It would be a great choice. If you notice most Avids that are for sale are speed wings. i would stay with the Stol wing. I have a Bandit with the Rotax 503 in it. This airplane does every thing I need to do. I am 200 lbs. and have had a passenger that was 235lbs, and it had no problem handling that, you just have to run the engine a little harder. When you are by yourself the airplane is awesome. I can get in and out of places that make your bottom side pucker real tight. The best I have ever done is take off circle and land in 45 seconds. Keep your Avid light and simple. I have just about 700hrs. on mine with no trouble yet.

Gotta like ski flying, never swatted any mosquitoes while ski flying. Down here we can land just about anywhere if there is enough snow. The problem is with wind. Makes for sum pretty rough fields.
