Cedric R added a post in a topic Maule anti-shimmy connector spring kit
Hello,
Thank you, but this is not what I'm looking for.
I am looking for the dimensions of the springs holding the tailwheel.
Avidventurous, since I live in Spain, I cannot open the link to the Homedepot link.
In fact, I was wondering if one of you wouldn't mind measuring his own tailwheel spring.
Length, diameter, and diameter of the wire.

Maule anti-shimmy connector spring kitHello,
I need to replace my connector spring kit on the tailwheel.
Inch or mm, I can deal with both. Here under is an example of usefull data:
Could anyone tell me dimensions of their springs?
Of course, I could buy the Spruce kit, but I would prefer to avoid this cost.

Thank you,

Cedric R added a post in a topic want to install HKS700E int Kitfox IV
Hello Jim,
Thanks for your feedback. I agree that 80Hp is what my Kit would deserve, but this HKS engine is also a nice piece of engineering and I an willing to give it a try.
To be honest, I cannot afford Rotax. Therefore, I was getting ready to use a BMW1150 engine.
2001-2006 BMW R 1150 engine delivers 85-95hp. They feature cylinders head oil cooling and dual spark.
Now, adapting a motorcycle engine is a lot of work if you are not willing to pay someone to do it for you.
- Reductor, injection management, ignition...
So, I believe the HKS is a good first step, even if it might be limited to use in duo during the summer.
And I might work on a BMW solution in parallel, although I know it will take more time to make it work.
Thanks again for your honest and experienced feedback.

Hello Zadwit,
Sorry I understand this topic is from 2017, but I have just purchased a HKS700E, and I am also looking to mount it on my Kitfox III cell.
Did your project went thru?
Would you have pictures of the assembly progress? I am interested to see how you went thru and would love to learn from your experience.
Thank you, Cedric

Cedric R added a post in a topic Threaded Rod End Identification
Thank you, Jim.
Yes, it does makes a lot of sense now that you've ran me down the path of deciphering the provided data.
So tube is clear: 1/2''+0.035 makes 0.43'' inside diameter.
About the thread: 1/4-28: 1/4'' is diameter that fits my 0.23'' measurement plus play.
But, here it is more for my own knowledge: if you don't mind explaining, what does the 28 means?
Thank you, Cedric

Threaded Rod End IdentificationHello,
I am looking for help in identifying the right Threaded Rod End for the elevator of my Kitfox II.
I found out mine was bent when I started the inspection:
Contacting with Spruce Europe, they gave me this identification table:
I must reckon I'm not familiar enough with imperial to identify what I have, so I've made pics of each dimensions in inches.
Could someone help me identifying mine?
I guess this is tube length and diameter, correct?
And I would say this is the thread?
But even with that, I am not sure I can square what I measure with the table.
Thanks, Cedric

Thanks Jack,
What you´ve done is what I have in mind, although I believe it could be done from one piece of metal.
The floorboard is custom made, I just bought a piece of plywood and cut it to my needs.
I can also see that you bought new brake cylinders, where did you get these from? I got 3 cylinders from previous owner, but they have different length.
As you can see on the picture, the one in the back fits where it should go, while the one in the front (right rudder) is right now attached to the return spring.

Cedric R added a topic in Kitfox II
Cockpit sides and bellyHello,
I bought my Kit in the middle of an overhaul, and there are things I do not understand form past modifications.
Does anyone has cockpit sides and belly made of metal sheet?
I believe it is typically made of fabric. But here, the sides are made of 2 metal sheets:
And for the belly, I have this other ugly assembly of 2 metal sheets.
I first thought it was a feature designed for bush planes, in case of stones projected by wheels on the belly, but I now understand it is absolutely not required.
I will probably not remove the sides, but I was thinking of making the belly out of fabric.
Thanks for your suggestions.
