About Me

 Private 1963. Commercial 1974.

Started in Cessna rentals in 1963.150, 152, 172, 182. A little over 1000 hours

Left certified in 1979 to fly ultralights. MX and GT 400. 2400 hours.

Have a bit more than 8,000 hours flying time at present.

Bought a model B Avid and put 2,000 hours on it before totaling it on a high Sierra strip.

Bought a MK4 3 weeks later and have 1700 hours on it so far.

Longest trip Southern California to OSH.

We fly to the Idaho backcountry strips every year.

I run accuracy engine out sessions at dry lake El Mirage when the temps and winds are reasonable. We shut the engine down on downwind and can land within 50 feet of the target cones. It takes some work but it can be done. If anyone in my area is interested let me know and I'll put you on my notification list.

The sessions are open to every Southern California pilot.
