I would differ on which brake pedal/master cylinder is correct. I think the back pedal is correct. There is much better leverage for added pressure in the brake lines with the shorter, lower tab. Actually, looking at the weld on the closer "return spring tab"?? I think those tabs have been added by someone after they left the factory. I don't recall ever seeing brake pedals with two tabs on them. And that is not where the return spring is meant to be attached to. Jack's last picture with the return spring attached where the rudder cable goes is how I've seen all of those I've dealt with. Think about it, when you would push down on one rudder pedal, the other pedal is pulled back. That would cause the brake to be applied somewhat from the spring pressure. JImChuk
PS here is a picture of my Avid rudder return spring, the Kitfox is pretty much the same.

The part you need is the AN490HT8P. I confirmed that as well by looking at a Kitfox 1 and Kitfox 4 manual. I don't have the Kitfox 2 manual. Notice that the AN490HT8P rod end is for a 1/2" diameter tube with a .035" wall thickness. 1/2" tube measures .500" diameter, subtract .035" twice for both wall thicknesses and you have .430 inside diameter. The rod end you have measures .420". Hope this makes sense. JImChuk

The sides and bottom just follow the fuselage, and the rounded top has to fit the cowl. With my firewall, I had to recess the center area, because I was using a Jabiru engine, and that is where the carb sits. The bend forward is right at the cross tube that goes full width of the fuselage. It gives room for the rudder pedals and master cylinders. The motor mount determines it's angle and distance forward. Kitfox sent a bunch of pieces that you were supposed to rivet together, not sure there was an actual drawing. JImChuk

1avidflyer added a post in a topic Kitfox model 2 assembly manual
There is a Kitfox 1 builder's manual in the files and forms section. Maybe it has the info you need. Basically, the jury struts attach to brackets that are mounted on the wing spars, and the bottom brackets bolt around the lift struts. The location is determined by where with the lift struts straight, the jury struts are vertical. I just was looking at the Kitfox 1 manual, and if you look at pages W5, W14, W15 it describes installing and locating the jury struts. Don't get confused by the first W14 sheet you come to, seems it's miss labeled. Go a few more pages and you will find W14, followed by W15. Hope this helps! JImChuk

You are correct, the sides and bottom are supposed to be fabric covered according to the manual. Is there evidence of tubing repair in the seat truss area? Maybe whoever put the metal on had some repair work done and thought it would be easier or better to replace the removed fabric with the metal??? Just a guess why they would have used metal. Often, the bottom of the fuselage between the firewall and the landing gear has a metal sheet installed over the fabric to protect that area from heat and oil. Lots of people think they have a better idea than the original designer, and do all sorts of things different than the manual shows. Some are better ideas, but often they are not. JImChuk

Multiple postsHi all, I've been a victim to this also. You post something up on a new topic, and it doesn't seem to take. So we repost again, sometimes multiple times. It seems like the first post does go through, we just need to be more patient. Lately, I've just opened up another window, and let this one sit until the post goes through. I'll see if it works on this one, and will put a PS on what I find out later today. JImChuk
PS I went to another page, and in about 20 or 30 seconds, I seen this page quit circling, and the post was uploaded.

1avidflyer added a post in a topic looking for avid mark IV condition inspection checklist
If he has the builder's manual for the plane, there is probably one there near the back of the book. I can probably find one for you if the manual doesn't have it. I am having trouble scanning things right now though for some reason. Just thought about it also, there is likely one in the files and forms section. There is a complete build manual there. JImChuk
PS, just did a quick search in the archives and found a link to one. Condition inspection time..582 checklist? - Avidfoxflyers General Hangar - AvidFoxFlyers Forums
look at the fifth post for a pdf file that you can download

1avidflyer added a post in a topic New Avid Kit Owner
Welcome to the group! Just looking at the pictures, and the mixer controls are Kitfox. Avid used round tubing for them, and Kitfox 1 - 3 used the square tubing, although the design is pretty much the same. Also, as you mentioned, the elevator pivot is Kitfox, Avid used a full length tube rather than a shorter steel tube forward of the pivot with an aluminum tube going back to the elevator after the pivot. The seat truss is a Kitfox as well. Not sure what that V shaped tube is just above the elevator pivot, I don't remember seeing that on the Kitfox 1 and 3 that I had. Maybe it was the builder's "better idea". For sure it's not a Kitfox 1, judging by the shape of the bottoms of the doors, also the Kitfox 1 was only 36" wide at the top back of the seat. Later ones are 39 1/2" wide. So that leaves a Kitfox 2 or 3. It could be converted to trike configuration, but that would take a fair bit of work. JImChuk
PS Just looking thru some old pictures of my Kitfox 3 and found this one. Notice the elevator pivot is different from yours, also that V tube on yours isn't there. Maybe you have a model 2 fuselage.....

1avidflyer added a post in a topic MkIV wings on a Model C?
They should be. The attachment holes may be just a tiny bit different in spacing front to back, as they are drilled to match the plane they are being built for. Perhaps 1/32" to 1/16" difference due to weld warpage when the fuselage is being built in the factory jig. JImChuk

1avidflyer added a post in a topic What is this bracket for?
In case anyone saw this post and wondered what the answer is, here you go. It is a bracket for attaching the radiator that was positioned there on some Avids. They had the side scoop for directing air into the radiator as well. JImChuk

What is this bracket for?Hi all, I ran across this bracket on the C model Avid I bought last fall, and figured it was someone's "better idea" that didn't pan out. Today I was looking at pictures of an Avid MK IV this is for sale, and it has the same bracket coming through the firewall. Nothing was bolted to the bracket in either plane. Never saw this on any other Avid I've had or been around. Any ideas? JImChuk

1avidflyer added a post in a topic Can you recognize this Avid gear? I need the drawings to install these on my plane
If you hit something hard enough, something will bend or break. Basically, the bungees wrap around the seat truss, go down through the fabric, and wrap around the landing gear in the center of the plane. 90" long loop to loop, 7 wraps usually with standard Avid. JImChuk
