So I'm considering building a fuselage from scratch. The Mrk 4 Kitfox I bought had been in an accident and poorly repaired then sat for a decade collecting corrosion. I'd be interested in hearing more about your build. Thinking I could use a couple of extra inches as I'm 6'2.

I'm planning on measuring up my fuselage in the next few weeks. Mines badly repaired and has some corrosion. If it's not repairable I may build a new one from scratch. I'll post my drawings when I have them.

Regarding the Raven plans - I bought them as a reference for my Kitfox project. I was told by an experienced builder and inspector who was familiar with them, that they are inaccurate. I don't know what those errors are but I am told that you can't build directly from them.
I compared one or two tube sizes on my aircraft and they didn't match but then my plane is a Mrk 4.
They also appear to use a first generation control system which some people replace with a newer style.

It's terminal. The dream is dead.
Finally found the time to start to work on my Kitfox Mk4 1200 circa 1995. Sat in storage for 15 years before I had it trucked in from New Brunswick last winter.
After removing the worst covering job you could ever imagine I started having serious doubts about the viability of getting her flying again.
I feared the worse and had a certified aircraft welder come look at my project. Two lower longerons rusted out...but that could have been fixed. Somebody - who should never have been even close to an airplane with a tool - tried to make repairs after an accident.
Tubes are crooked. Welds are appalling. The whole frame is seriously buggered.
    I'm gutted.

Are you using the stock factory exhaust or a Rotax Rick exhaust?

    Replace or rebuild flaperons?
Looks like my two flaperons may be toast. One has dents in it and the other is missing the root rib and control arm completely. Not sure if the factory still makes them for a Kitfox Model 4.
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the skins. The ribs seem to be made from foam.

Not sure of the reason why this repair was made. Unfortunately no other pictures at the moment. Plane is in storage 40 minutes from me.
It looks to me that the reinforcement plates were broken or cut off. Then a small section of tube riveted over the existing spar tubing. And then drilled.

    From spar attachment point
I just noticed this repair (?) on the front spar attachment point on the Kitfox 4 I recently purchased. It's hard to see but a hole has been drilled through the spar for a bolt. I'm not liking the looks of this. Any suggestions?
BTW the plane requires pretty much a complete overhaul.

    Anybody have a 618 installed?
Hey folks!  My first post here.
I recently purchased a Kitfox 4 that has been sitting in storage for 15 years. Requires pretty much a complete rebuild.
I'm just about to send the 618 off to Rotax Rick for an overhaul. However the engine was removed from the plane when I received it. Many of the parts came in plastic totes.
I was hoping someone here who is running a 618 could post some detailed photos of their engine installed in their plane. Thanks in advance.
