Looking for a Kitfox nose wheel kit
I am looking for a nose wheel kit for Kitfox.  I’ll mod it for my Avid Model C. I’m in San Diego, CA land of paved runways.  She’s set up as a tailwheeler, but insurance is getting out of hand for tailwheeled experimentals and I want to keep her flying!

Is the Avid/Kitfox mount still available?

    Hi Charles,
Sorry for the delay, and the gear legs are still for sale. Wheels and brakes are not included. That would be too good of a deal.

I had hand surgery Friday and will post the pictures later this week.  Being one not to sit and cry, I sent Randy Moore a deposit for the new gear.  I have a new right Avid gear, but after this, I trust it about as much as my son with my car keys when he was 16! With that said, my son removed the Warp Drive Prop and sent it out for inspection and to install new blades.  Fortunately, I have a new NSI gearbox ready to go.  Does anybody know the spar thickness?  With a bad hand, we measured .085" x 2.5" and 12ft long? Does that sound right? I'll use the Stewart Systems to skin the wing after we get her back on her wheels.
Does anybody have a right fuel tank?

Damaged Avid after main gear collapse
My Cub yellow Avid Model C SN: 573 that I bought last year and refurbished her back to an airworthy condition so I thought,  needs a right wing.  During the first flight since 2012, it ground looped mildly, but when returning to the runway, the right main gear folded.  Corrosion under the shock cord strut that was nicely covered and wooded for aerodynamics hid a crack and held it until we really loaded it.  The wing actually went straight down onto the wingtip and bent leading edge spar and possibly the main spar.  She’ll need them replaced or a good used right wing.  I sent the Warp drive hub out for inspection and new blades.  A new NSI gearbox was on the toolbox already and I have a new right gear assembly.  I’m ordering new Hatz landing gear. I decided to install wider and forward 4 inch forward gear.
Anybody have a forward spar for the Model C? I’ll see if Mike Mendick can sell me one and a outboard rib.

Nice work, What was your technique spraying the latex? I have an Avid Model C SN:573 that had left elevator and top longeron damage. Luckily no kinks and I was able to massage  the tubes back to original.

I used Stewart Systems and it was amazing.  My earlier days working with fabric was Poly Stits.  With Stewart I could work in a closed hangar to keep the temperature above 60.

Thanks, I’ll get in touch with him.  Attached are pictures of the original spring.  Notice the offset holes.

The J3 tailwheel spring attach hole is moved up 1” which lowers the tail.

Thanks for the information.   The original tailwheel spring when I bought the plane was 1.5”s wide, very short and poorly narrowed.  The trail/caster was not correct.  Only one side of the spring was cut to fit the in the tail bracket and tailwheel.  It would only turn to the right, but there was little to none control left.  She was ground looped a few times by the previous owner and once by me. (No damage)
The new 1.250 width J3 spring from Univair made all the difference.  We’ve taxi tested low and high speeds and now we have positive control left and right as a proper tailwheeler.  I’ll shorten the spring today, and then finish the skin.

Thank for the advice. Pictures to follow.

I may leave the handle as I am a short dude, and have found the handle for my T-Rex arms leaves me with good lifting leverage.
I too like the idea of a slightly shorter spring.  I’ll let you know the results.
DC Flyer on YouTube has wider cabain style gear.  Who makes that style, as I am looking into replacing the shock cords style gear and go wider, but not much taller..

Thanks for the CG information. I am glad it moved back an inch with fuel.
Good question about the battery cables.  I checked it out thoroughly, and the ground plate is welded to the airframe and a 3/8 bolt is welded to the plate!  This is the reason the tail isn’t skinned yet.  The picture doesn't due justice for the wire gauge.  My 1963 Mini Cooper battery is located in the boot. (Trunk) and I ran 0 gauge due to the old school starter and amperage needed to spin it.
The subaru EA81 cranks robustly and the cables don’t heat up as long as I don’t spend time on the starter.  Plus all of the terminals are installed with a proper crimper. It’s good being an owner of an Avionics shop.
    Starter applying skin today..
