Is there any actual side by side comparison of drop and flop vs flying the approach slow and 3 pointing? I’ve been trying to do my approaches with real constant angle at an airspeed that feels comfortable and slow, and chopping throttle and “not trying to land” once short of the spot i wanna hit. Just don’t know how much I’d gain by doing it different, and if the risk is worth it. Juice for the squeeze type thing.

Who has pull start with clutch
I’ve got my avid sold to a guy who is older. I’m worried he may not have the ass I’ve got to start the motor. It’s a Rotax 582 with 74” prop. I don’t want to sell him a plane he can’t fly, so I offered to put a clutch in it or a starter. I’m hoping a clutch reduces the starting effort significantly, because I really don’t wanna pull the motor to put a starter on it.
so...how easy is it to pull start a 582 with clutch? And how bad is the clutch install. Thanks!!!

It’s just a heater core essentially, so I just hooked it up either way, didn’t pay much attention on which is which

I think because mine is so light it’s off the ground in under 400’, and I’m 220lbs. But I understand what you’re looking for!

How come you wanna widen them? Is the airplane flying? I understand the need to tinker, i'm as guilty as anyone, but i'd try to stay away from projects that have alot of unknowns that'll keep your aircraft grounded. Having to use the rudder just a slightly bit more is worth more to me than all the down time in widening the gear just a bit, to reduce the workload just a tiny bit. Theoretically the experience you gain from flying will outweigh the downtime and effort involved in adding 6" to your gear width. Just food for thought.

Post a picture of what you’ve got, maybe we can crowd source an idea of something that’ll work, even though maybe we don’t have an avid a.

I saw that too Jim, if you de-tuned it to 150hp...you’d have the lightest efi’d 150hp Avid around, and the price would still be better than a Rotax 914
