  1. RobS added a post in a topic Great day!

Nice pictures! And it looks like it's the Cabinet Gorge Dam and the other one upstream is the Noxon Rapids Dam.

I think one of the sites on the list I posted stated they limited file sizes to 3mb and they "auto" resized the photos to meet that requirement and retained the correct aspect ratios.

  6. RobS added a post in a topic INVERTED TAIL RIBS QUESTION

Yup, and that's why an aft CG is more efficient. Less tail "down lift/force" required (reduced AOA) so less drag . . .

  9. RobS added a post in a topic Anyone ever use a sea doo engine?

Found this in Boating Magazine. Looks like the engine was first used in a snowmobile, so I'm assuming it's a closed loop cooling system that includes a water pump.
    Rotax 900 ACE HO
TECHNICAL DETAILS - ACE (Advanced Combustion Efficiency)
    4-Stroke - NUMBER OF CYLINDERS: 3
    PERFORMANCE:  66,19 kW / 90 HP
    PERFORMANCE/ RPM: 66,19 kW @ 8000 rpm
    ENGINE TORQUE/ RPM: 84,3 Nm @ 6500 rpm
    WEIGHT (KG): 56,6 ~124lbs
    TRANSMISSION: None
Introduced last year on a snowmobile, the Rotax 900 ACE that powers the Spark is a compact three-cylinder with dual overhead cams that pumps out 60 horsepower in its base configuration. An optional High Output (HO) version bumps that figure to 90. Sea-Doo also proclaims the ACE to be arguably the most fuel-efficient engine in the PWC market. Based on what the company presents as an average duty cycle, the 60 hp ACE burns only 1.94 gallons per hour, and the 90 hp only 2.4 gph.

I thought Ed was more concerned with if he ever had to file a claim (didn't follow plans, so that's why it got damaged/crashed), not costs. Any excuse they can use to duck out of paying . . .

  14. RobS added a post in a topic T6 Ride

The guy I flew with wasn't pushing his engine too hard (no WOT), so the noise wasn't bad.

Doug - not bad with a good set of David Clark's. But a bit more noisy (and chilly) on takeoff and landing with the canopy open.

    T6 Ride
Had a chance to catch a ride on an AT6 this morning out of Blue Ribbon Field in Sequim, Washington. Great plane and beautiful surroundings . . .

Ron - as someone who is working on completing an Avid kit, I'll be interested to hear how this turns out for you. Good luck!

  20. RobS added a post in a topic USB 4A dual smart charger port

Joey - have you installed/used your new USB charger yet? If so, how's it working? I saw that Appareo just introduced a dual port USB charger at AEA, but they want $350 for it! If this one is working well for you, $75 looks to be a bargain for a panel mounted unit.

  22. RobS added a post in a topic Avid C HH wing build 101

Wyatt - as I remember, around 14 1/2" was the width of our plywood. We used Hysol to secure the plywood to the spar and Titebond 3 for gluing it to the ribs/false-ribs. No wrapping of the plywood and it took only a small amount of superfil to feather it to the spar.

  24. RobS added a post in a topic Avid C HH wing build 101

, We used .8mm plywood and did it in three pieces with each seam aligning with a rib. The wood glue we used worked well and created a solid structure. We used superfil to feather the seams and to the spar. I've attached a picture - hope this helps.
